A company picnic is a workplace event held in a park with children present. That combination sets the rules: controlled pours, visible ID checks, a hard end time, and a non-alcoholic station good enough that the kids and the non-drinkers are not queuing at the beer line. How do you limit drinks without being the fun police?

Tickets, quietly. Two drink tickets per adult at check-in, then a cash bar or a close. It reads as a company gift rather than a restriction, it caps company liability and spend at the same time, and it puts a natural ceiling on the day without any manager having to police anyone.

Wristbands, not repeated carding

Band adults at check-in and the bar never has to card again. It keeps the line moving and it removes the awkwardness of a bartender asking a colleague's parent for ID. The bartender still holds the right to refuse service, always, and ours are TIPS certified and carry the training to use it.

The kids' station is the real workhorse

At a family day, the non-alcoholic station serves more people than the bar does. Build it properly: two garnished coolers, lemonade, water with fruit, and self-serve so it never queues behind cocktails. Give it its own table on the opposite side of the lawn. Park and outdoor logistics

• Permits. Most Colorado municipal parks require a permit for alcohol, filed weeks ahead. Ask before you promise a bar.
• Shade. A tented bar, always, for staff as much as guests.
• Ice. Two pounds per adult minimum in July, staged in coolers.
• No glass. Most parks prohibit it. Plan compostables.
• Hard stop. Publish the bar close time on the invite and hold it.

Two tickets per adult, three bar stations spread across the field, one big zero-proof station by the games. Bar closed an hour before the event ended so families left on a high note instead of a slow fade.
